Trying to get connectivity from RSLogix to PC through RSLinx with an SLC 5/04. I have had to switch computers do to mother board failure. We had to go to a new Dell PC with USB only and no 25 pin port for the connectivity with the SLC 5/04 on our conveyor. I have tried to use a USB to serial cable connecting with RSLinx autoconfig. I had no luck with this as the autoconfig error out and ask me to double check cables.
I then tried a 1747-cp3 usb to 9 pin adapter hooked directly to the SLC 5/04 did the autoconfig and got the same error. I then switched to 9300-USBS and had same results. I have double checked the ports and they are reading correctly and also installed the drivers for both cables. I have been told to switch to a SLC 5/05 but I am wary of this trial and error I have been doing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I haven't seen a 25-pin serial port in a LONG time. Most are 9-pin.

Ive been looking into USB to Serial converters but there seems to a lot of issues. But we've had good success here with the 9300 USBS adapter from Rockwell.
